Summary of Changes

Hello @gruebel, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on essential maintenance by upgrading key development tools, uv and ruff, to their latest versions. It also includes a targeted fix for a cachebox dependency issue affecting Python 3.9 environments, ensuring consistent build behavior and dependency resolution across supported Python versions.

Highlights

  • Tool Upgrades: The ruff-pre-commit hook has been updated from version v0.13.2 to v0.14.3, and the uv_build requirement across various pyproject.toml files has been upgraded from ~=0.8.0 to ~=0.9.0. The root pyproject.toml also reflects this uv version bump.
  • Dependency Compatibility: The cachebox dependency in providers/openfeature-provider-flagd/pyproject.toml has been adjusted to ensure compatibility with Python 3.9. Specifically, cachebox<=5.0.1 is now required for Python versions less than 3.10, while newer versions are allowed for Python 3.10 and above, addressing an issue with Python 3.9 wheels.

Code Review

This pull request upgrades uv and ruff across the repository. The changes are mostly straightforward version bumps in various pyproject.toml files and the .pre-commit-config.yaml. A conditional dependency on cachebox has been introduced to work around a packaging issue for Python 3.9, which is a good solution. I've suggested a small improvement to the comment explaining this workaround to make it clearer for future maintenance.
